Teaching both adults and children requires an understanding of research based best teaching practices, willingness to adapt to your target population, and the ability to engage your audience. 

• Learning by doing: I think the best way to effectively teach content is to use the "I do, We do, You do" model or a gradual release of responsibility. The instructor shows the students what to do, then the students and the teacher complete the task together, and finally the students do it on their own. 

• Engage your audience! You can only learn if your paying attention. An instructor needs to find a way to thoroughly engage the students. whether it is through interesting content or using humor and personality to captivate listeners during dry content. Either way, the student needs to be engaged to learn and that is the responsibility of the teacher.
